Walking Exercises and Types of Walking
One method to perform walking exercises is by interval walking. Interval walking is periods of power walking and weighted power walking followed by recovery walking exercises, or slower, rest walking exercises. Interval walking exercise plans can burn up to 120 calories in a half an hour time period.
Power walking is another way to walk as an exercise. Power walking consists of walking at a fast pace for a period of time. The idea behind power walking is to walk at such a pace that it may be easier to simply break out into a run. In doing so, you will burn more calories than you would have burned while actually running at the same pace.
Finally, leisure walking is a good form of walking exercise. Taking a nightly walk around your neighborhood, or walking through the park to catch the sights, are both steps in the right direction to better health. Even if you only take small steps, like walking to places near as opposed to driving, or using stairs instead of ramps and elevators, is still taking a step in the right direction towards better health.
