Breathing Relaxation-Not Just For Yoga Anymore
|
Many people think that breathing relaxation is only for people who practice yoga or Pilates. That is simply not the case. Everyone can, and should, practice breathing relaxation techniques, especially if they are working out. |
Breathing relaxation is very much a part of your fitness level. As you work out, you know how important it is to control your breathing-it is equally as important to control your breathing as you cool down after a work out. It helps to cool down your muscles, slow down your pulse and relax your body.
Breathing relaxation is not just about cooling down your muscles either. By slowing down and controlling your breathing, it can relax your entire body and mind, just as they teach in yoga. Breathing relaxation is used for exactly that-relaxation. Controlled breathing to reduce stress, blood pressure and pulse has many benefits to your health, for some of the most obvious reasons.
After a workout, regardless of what type of physical activity you are doing, you require time to cool down. Your muscles have been worked, your breathing harder, deeper and faster to keep up with your muscles increased oxygen needs-you can not simply 'stop' and expect your breathing to return to normal without some ramifications. This is where breathing relaxation techniques come into play. Modifying your breathing to become slower, slows down your pulse and helps to cool off your muscles. If you simply stop, your body can go into shock.
Breathing relaxation techniques are not just for yoga, Pilates and meditation-they are for you too! |
