Breath control is used in many aspects of fitness training. Whether you are at the gym, swimming, practicing yoga or Pilates, you will find that one of the core values of a good work out is learning to control your breathing. Your muscles and brain require oxygen-their need for oxygen increases as you work out.
Many people don't breathe enough when they are working out, and by breathing too slowly, your muscles and brain are not getting enough oxygen, which can tire you out more quickly and potentially harm your muscles. Some people also breath too quickly while they are working out-this overly increased oxygen intake is no better for your muscles. It is important while you are working out to maintain a constant and easy breath control level so that you are getting enough oxygen for your muscles to burn and work throughout your entire workout.
