Most people taking vitamins or minerals as supplementation do so as a means of giving their body a little bit of health insurance against vitamin deficiencies.

When it comes to slowing down the onset or preventing the progression of diseases, many experts are stating that many vitamins, in particular antioxidants, are beneficial in delaying the process of aging by decreasing the amount of damage to cells. This is not to say that all antioxidants are certified youth drugs, but that there is potential anti-aging benefits through taking vitamins that contain antioxidants.

These are just a few of many benefits to taking vitamins. Not only do they improve overall health, but with new benefits arising every day, it is probably that there are a host of other benefits that have yet to be discovered.
