The Healing Powers of Vitamin K Cream

With its known function to assist in fluid maintenance in cellular tissue, Vitamin K has become increasingly popular to enhance skin repair as well.
It is used in a topical form known as Vitamin K cream and is popular for fading and clearing bruises, decreasing the look of facial spider veins, improving the look of broken capillaries, and calming irritated or red areas on the face. Studies do support this notion, showing that in its proper form, Vitamin K cream can significantly decrease any reddened or bruised facial wounds. Because of these benefits, Vitamin K cream is particularly useful before any kind of facial surgery, and also following any facial surgery.

Improved versions of the original forms of Vitamin K cream were formulated to assist those suffering from red areas, purple blotches, and blue or black marks on the face. It is also very effective in decreasing the look of smaller blood vessels anywhere on the body or face. Many new reformulations contain an ingredient called arnica, that triggers skin healing and evens the overall tone of the skin. Many of today's reformulations also contain an anti-oxidant blend of green tea to assist with youthful appearances on the skin tone.

One study was conducted to determine if Vitamin K cream would alleviate the duration of laser induced purpura. Purpura is a condition in which the body's cells begin to bleed due to aggravation. In laser induced purpura, certain laser treatments will leave small purple colored dots on the area of treatment, but they do go away after some time. This study was conducted to see if Vitamin K cream would assist in the decreasing that duration. 20 people were tested in this study, with each of them having a total of five purpura sites treated with Vitamin K cream. Each person also had a control site in which no purpura site received the cream. It was found that the purpura decreased much faster with Vitamin K cream and that the difference was significantly noticeable from day three and on.

A lot of creams on the market today are considered to be a waste of money in terms of healing or anti-aging effects. This study does provide some encouragement towards the healing powers of Vitamin K cream.
