Water Soluble Vitamins Need To Be Replenished Daily

There are two kinds of vitamins that our body uses. Water soluble vitamins, and fat soluble vitamins.
Water soluble vitamins are almost exclusively B vitamins, but Vitamin C is also a water soluble vitamin. The 9 water soluble vitamins include: Thiamine or B1, Riboflavin or B2, pantothenic acid, B6, biotin, Vitamin C, niacin or B3, folic acid, and B12. In their free state, the water soluble vitamins are not active and can not work, so they must be triggered to get the most use out of them. The body does not store water soluble vitamins, so they must be replenished daily. The preferred means to do so is through a proficient multivitamin.

Water soluble vitamins once they are ingested are first absorbed by the intestinal tracts which promptly passes them directly to the blood, which then takes them to the cellular tissues and bodies that need them. Because they are water soluble, our body rids any excess of them through the urine every day. This is because our body does not have the capacity to store water soluble vitamins, and as our cellular tissues get saturated from them, the excretion rate of them rises significantly. The benefit of this is that it keeps us from overdosing on them, but for this same reason we need to refuel our bodies with them every day.

Water soluble vitamins have many significant effects in many areas of the body. They primarily function as coenzymes to assist the body get energy from our diet. However they are also critical for red blood cell formation, good appetite, nervous system health, good vision, and healthy skin. The key thing to understand about them is that they can not be stored in the body, regardless of how good they are for us. We require a constant supply of them through our diets and through supplementation to maintain adequate health and nutrition.
