What you should not massage

Massage, if intended to be used for healing or treating illness, should be given by a trained masseur. However, anybody could give a day to day massage provided they make sure that certain things are taken into consideration.

Make sure you do not massage :-

  • Area that has received surgical incision

  • Any area that is known to contain tumor

  • The abdomen within 2 hours of eating

  • The abdomen if the person receiving it is suffering from hernia

  • Any body parts that is swollen, inflamed or infected

  • Anybody with a high fever, tuberculosis, or other infectious disease. It is feared that massaging the problem could spread to the entire body

  • Anyone with a contagious skin disease. Acne, rashes are two common examples

  • Bad sprains or strains.

  • Don't massage anyone with circulatory problem such as varicose veins or thrombophlebitis
