Live Like a King

How often do you get a massage each week? Occasionally? Never? While some people think massages have a more sexual effect than a therapeutic one, you may be surprised to learn that many kings got massages routinely. If you are one of those people who love a good massage, you may very well be thinking like a king. Many French rulers took massages, as did the great Julius Caesar.

Massage Is Natural

What is the first thing you do when your neck hurts? Rub on some oils? Not likely. Our natural, unconscious reflex is to massage the painful area.

Massage is a natural way of healing. It is also one of the oldest and best-known therapies used by man. Used as early as 3000 B.C. the healing power of massage has been well documented over the past 5000 years.

Is There Medical Proof That Massage Is Beneficial?

Ancient medical texts have numerous references to massage. Hippocrates, often regarded as the father of modern medicine, said that a medical doctor must know how to massage his patients. How many doctors do you know that practice this? Very few doctors use massage, although scientific studies have proved its effectiveness.

When you go for a professional massage, do not be confused by the different techniques used by your masseur. There are many forms of massage and as many techniques. There are significant differences between shiatsu, acupressure, osteopathy, reflexology and Swedish massage.
