Fever Home Remedy

You are sweating while the head is filled with a throbbing ache and you feel like you want to bang your head to the wall, except you do not have the energy to do so. You put a thermometer under your tongue and it shows 101 degrees Fahrenheit. You now know you have a fever.

What Should You Do?

First Fever Cure - Do Nothing

It sounds weird but fever may actually do the body some good. It is not a problem to be cured, but it is a reaction to body's problem. The excessive heat produced by the body is a result of the hard work by the body's immune system to fight toxic or infection.

"By leaving a fever untreated, you may be following Mother Nature's way of dealing with infection," says Matthew Kluger, a professor of physiology at the University of Michigan. However, letting the fever to run its course may not be a good idea for kids and elderly. Do not allow it to reach 106 F without seeking treatment because in kids, such high temperature could lead to brain damage. At the same time, if the fever persists for 4 --5 days, it is good to get a doctor's advice.

Fast

All animals and infants will refuse food when ill. This is the best example of how nature works in protecting the body. Naturalists advise taking the following liquids: water, diluted fruit juices, hot water and lemon juices as well as hot teas (so that you'll sweat). Keep yourself well hydrated and avoid alcohol because it can be absorbed into the skin, causing intoxication and dehydration.

Dress Comfortably

Wear something comfortable and light. The fewer the clothes, the faster the fever will go down because the sweat glands will be able to release moisture. Do not bundle up in the hope that it will go away.

Water Therapy

Trunk packs are advised in most fevers. They will lower the body's temperature by relieving internal congestion and increasing elimination. You can also try the hot Epsom salt bath or cold compress. The evaporation of the water from the skin will help you cool down. Make sure the water is not ice cold, because this may make the fever to rise again.

Be Kind to Others

Yes, you may not feel well but it's not a reason to be unkind. Relax, like we said earlier, you body is working to make your body healthier. Fever is good for the body, so you should be grateful and treat others very well, okay?
