Migraine Home Remedy
These painful headaches start at the back of the head and make their way to the front of your face, near the eyes. Migraines are terribly painful and uncomfortable while they last.
There is no easy cure to making migraines disappear. Short of spending a few hundred dollars on a doctor's visit and some prescription strength Tylenol, there is not much that you can do about it. You will just have to grin and bear it until the symptoms go away. What if the pain is too much to handle? Are there home remedies that can help while your head throbs painfully at the end of the spinal cord? Thankfully, the answer is yes.
Home Remedies
- Applying an ice pack relieves migraine pain to some extent. Prepare a small ice pack by placing crushed ice cubes in a towel. Migraines are caused by the inflammation of blood vessels in the facial area. Ice cools the blood vessels and helps them contract to their original size, thereby reducing the pain of blood flow through the veins.
- Cinnamon is another good remedy. Mix a few pinches of cinnamon in with a cold glass of water and rub this on your temples whenever the pain seems unbearable. The cinnamon and the water relieve pressure from the face.
- You can also take a vitamin named niacin. Niacin is found in most whole wheat breads and in foods like fish. Consume at least 100 to 150 mg of the vitamin each day to reduce migraine pain and prevent future migraines.
If all else fails, visit the doctor for extra-strength painkillers.
