Home Remedy for Toothaches
There's nothing worse than a painful tooth, especially if you cannot see the dentist for a few days. You can always try a home remedy for toothaches, but these are only temporary fixes. They will not cure the underlying problem. They will only ease the pain until your dental appointment.
Home Remedies
- If the pain becomes unbearable, buy a product called OraJel. This is sold at most drug stores. It numbs the pain medically and almost instantaneously.
- That seemingly miracle cure, garlic cloves, can rescue you from your toothache. Take a whole garlic clove and place it on your aching tooth for almost instant relief.
- Chew on raw onion for about five minutes. The juices released by the onion, provide mild relief for oral pain.
- Vanilla extract, a flavoring with a strong smell and taste, also provides pain relief in much the same way as OraJel. A few drops of this alcohol-rich liquid numb the gums and teeth long enough for you to find other methods of relief.
- If all else fails, ice is a great last resort. An ice pack on the cheek or face numbs the jawbone and nerves, ensuring temporary relief from pain.
- Avoid eating high-sugar foods when you have a toothache. These cause further irritation. Avoid very cold or hot drinks as well. The gums are very sensitive to temperature. Irritating a sore tooth with a sudden shock of cold or hot may aggravate the nerves and cause much pain.
