A common home remedy for toothaches is clove oil and this has been used for years. The clove oil can be purchased in almost any drugstore. Simply apply a drop on the affected tooth or put a small amount on a cotton ball and pack it beside the tooth. Another common home remedy for toothaches is a simple a shot of whiskey. Simply take some whiskey into your mouth and hold the liquid over the affected tooth for approximately twenty seconds. Spit out the rest. Because the gum absorbs a portion of the alcohol, the tooth will become numb. Mouth rinses are other home remedy for toothaches that assist in controlling the pain associated with a toothache. First, you can try to rinse with a lukewarm water to make sure you don't have anything stuck between your teeth causing your pain. If the pain persists, add salt to the warm water and rinse. Another rinse you can use to ease the discomfort is dilute hydrogen peroxide in half with warm water. Swirl this around in your mouth and spit. It is very important that you do not swallow this solution. When done, rinse with the lukewarm water to cleanse the hydrogen peroxide from your mouth.
