Practical Home Remedy for Headache
Headaches may be acute or chronic in nature. They are often an external symptom of a more severe, internal medical condition. If headaches have been bothering you for some time, seek a professional medical opinion.
If you get headaches only sporadically, you may benefit from the following effective home remedies.
Home Remedies
- Prepare a paste of cloves and table salt with a few drops of water or milk. The salt ensures that the cloves are slowly leached. The cloves release a compound that functions like an aromatherapy chemical, helping alleviate the pain. Apply the paste on the forehead for about 20 minutes every few hours.
- You can also use a cinnamon paste. Like cloves, cinnamons have a healing effect when used to treat headaches. However, cinnamon paste is less potent than clove paste. Prepare the cinnamon paste with lukewarm water rather than milk.
- If the headache has progressed into a throbbing pain, you may need a more potent remedy. Prepare a drink by mixing aloe juice and a few pinches of turmeric powder in warm water. Warm water ensures that the turmeric and aloe dissolve properly.
- Herbal tea made from holy basil leaves is very effective for treating headaches. To make the tea more curative, add some fresh ginger juice. Before serving the tea, mix in a dab of honey and some ground black pepper. Use milk in this herbal tea preparation.
- If you have recurrent headaches, start your day by eating a peeled apple. Sprinkle the apple with rock salt and some pepper. Follow this up by drinking a small cup of low-fat warm milk.
- If the headache is accompanied by symptoms of indigestion, chew on a few fennel flakes throughout the day, particularly after meals.
