Home Remedy for Bruises
Bruising usually occurs during a fall or on bumping into an object. The impact causes the capillaries beneath the skin to burst; blood fills the area, forming the bruise.
Home Remedies
- When an injury is sustained but the skin is intact, use ice to counteract the effects of bruising. Do this immediately after bruising. If you take too long to ice the area, the blood will have already spread and formed bruises. If you have applied the ice in time, do so in intervals of several minutes, allowing the skin to heat up naturally, and then cooling it down with the ice. Continue this for about half an hour for the best results.
- Some people are more susceptible to bruising then others. However, this has nothing to do with some people having a "thicker skin". It has everything to do with diet. People with low Vitamin C levels bruise more easily than others. If this is the case, shoring up on Vitamin C can help.
- Lying down often helps prevent bruise formation. In case of leg or arm injuries, keeping the limb elevated for a few minutes can help prevent bruising.
- Herbal creams can be applied on the injury to speed up the healing process. Ensure that the person is not allergic to any of the substances used to avoid an adverse reaction.
If your bruise does not seem to be due to a fall or a bump, consult a doctor to determine the cause.
