Home Remedies for the Common Cold
The common cold can be very annoying. Mainly caused by weather change or extremely cold weather, a cold is both uncomfortable and irritating.
Frozen foods and cold drink are also reasons for common cold. In this article, we will discuss home remedies that can protect you from a cold. It is always advisable to check with your doctor before taking any medicine.
Home Remedies
- Drink plenty of water (at least eight glasses a day) to prevent colds. By not drinking water, we allow bacteria to accumulate in our body. Water flushes out toxins and impurities. Do not consume alcohol because it causes dehydration.
- Gargle with water at least thrice a day. Take tea that contains holy basil and garlic. This helps fight common cold germs.
- Garlic is a terrific common cold remedy. Place a little garlic in a glass of water. Add onion juice, boil for two or three minutes and let cool. Drinking this water is very helpful in fighting colds.
- Lemon is very effective in eliminating common cold. Place a lemon in a glass of water and warm for few minutes. Once it cools, add a teaspoon of honey. Drink this solution to tackle the cold.
- In case of nasal congestion, gently massage the nose. Pay special attention to the lower sections of the nostrils. Avoid cold water and eat fresh food. Increase your intake of foods that are rich in Vitamin C.
