• Buy tea tree oil at your local health food store. The oil has antifungal, antiseptic and antibiotic properties. Simply add a drop of the oil to every two ounces of your regular shampoo. Shake the bottle well before use. If this does not yield results within a couple of weeks, increase the amount of tea tree oil in the shampoo. You could also buy a shampoo that already contains tea tree oil.
  
  
• Apple cider vinegar is a great remedy for an itchy scalp and thinning hair. Studies show that it has healing properties. Combine a teaspoon of pure apple cider vinegar, an egg, an ounce of olive oil and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Blend in a blender and use as a shampoo. Rinse your hair with a mixture of warm water and two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Wrap your head in a towel for around 15 minutes and then wash your hair as usual.
  
  
• Apply aloe vera gel on your scalp and leave on for 20 minutes. Afterwards, shampoo your hair as usual.
  
  
• Coconut oil, almond oil and olive oil can also soothe an itchy scalp. Apply some oil on the scalp, and then wrap your head in a towel for 30 minutes. Leave on overnight for better results.
  
  
• Lemon juice is a great natural conditioner and very soothing to a dry and itchy scalp. Massage it into your scalp and leave on for five to 10 minutes before shampooing as usual.
  
  
• Exfoliate your itchy scalp with a paste of water and baking soda. Rinse thoroughly.
