How to Get Rid of Hives Through Natural Home Remedies
Hives are reddish and itchy raised bumps that appear on the skin following an allergic reaction to a food or substance. When the body is exposed to food or a substance that it is allergic to, it releases histamines into the blood. This results in the leaking of veins and capillaries. The leaks cause localized swellings known as hives.
Hives can appear on any part of the face or body. They often go away on their own. If they do not disappear quickly, try some of the natural home remedies listed below.
Home Remedies
- Apply ice or a cold compress on the hives. This eases the redness and itchiness.
- Cut open a Vitamin E gel capsule and apply the oil on the affected area. Vitamin E promotes faster healing and soothes the skin.
- Prepare a homemade paste by mixing oatmeal and cornstarch in water. Apply this organic paste on your hives to help them dry out and disappear faster.
- If you have itchy hives all over your body, soak in a tub of warm water to which you have added half a cup of baking soda and cornstarch. This relieves the itching and irritation.
- Topical application of sandalwood essential oil can also help. Sandalwood has been used for many centuries to treat various skin conditions. It offers cooling and anti-inflammatory effects.
- Apply mint essential oil on the hives to soothe the itchiness and irritation. You could also prepare mint ice cubes to apply on the affected area. Prepare these by simply crushing some fresh mint leaves and boiling in water. Strain, pour the water into an ice tray and freeze.
- You could also use other essential oils like olive oil and grapefruit seed oil on the hives.
