Home Remedies for Heart Burn
When stomach acids enter the esophagus, we feel a burning sensation called heartburn. The stomach acids are essential in digestion and harmless when they remain in the stomach, However, sometimes the acid travels along with food to the esophagus, causing great discomfort. Obesity, tight clothes and pregnancy are some factors that increase the likelihood of heartburn.
The first step in fighting heartburn is prevention. Adjust your lifestyle and eating habits to keep heartburn away. Sometimes even precautions are not enough. Then you can turn to home remedies to treat and cure the condition.
Home Remedies
- Vegetable juice diminishes the effects of the acid. A mixture of carrot juice, potato juice, cucumber juice and beet juice can reduce or cure heartburn. The juices also help digestion.
- Avoid high-fat foods because they often cause heartburn.
- Drinking a glass of salted water is also helpful in treating heartburn, provided it is taken in the early stages. It will not treat a full-blown case. Take care not to use too much salt as this could damage the stomach. Generally, a teaspoon of salt will suffice.
Besides the usual case of heartburn, you could also contract a severe case known as acid reflux disease. Heartburn should never be a regular condition. If that is the case, meet your doctor to rule out the possibility of acid reflux.
