Home Remedies for Headache
Studies in the United States show that 45 million American citizens suffer chronic headaches. Headaches can have many causes, ranging from stress to allergies.
Millions of dollars are spent on expensive painkillers that provide only temporary relief. Moreover, the body slowly builds up resistance to the active substance in painkillers. There are many other side effects of painkiller usage. The side effects may be more damaging to health than the headache itself.
Natural remedies are a better and cheaper alternative to painkillers. They also have no side effects that are detrimental to health.
Home Remedies
- A simple and effective way to combat stress-related headaches is deep breathing. Deep breaths can soothe the nerves enough to dissipate headaches. However, this provides relief only in mild cases.
- Simple exercise can cure a persistent headache by simply getting the bloodstream flowing. A leisurely walk could reduce severity of the headache and shorten its duration.
- Headaches are often due to muscle tension that affects the bloodstream. In such cases, massaging around the upper shoulders and neck area could cure your headache. Applying pressure on the area between the thumb and the forefinger is also known to bring headache relief.
- Herbal teas can help get rid of a headache. The combination of heat and herbs offer quick relief. Chamomile and peppermint teas are especially effective in this regard.
These are only a few remedies for curing headaches. There are many others. Some remedies are more effective than others, depending on the cause of the headache. If nothing seems to work, consult your doctor to ensure that no serious health problems are involved.
