Home Remedies for Bee Sting

Bee stings can be dangerous and very painful. Victims of bee stings often complain of swelling, rashes and irritation, nausea and blurred vision.

The key to treating a bee sting involves extracting the sting, cleaning the wound and using a healing agent for fast relief.

Although you can always take the victim to the doctor, stings often occur while camping and picnicking at remote places. Therefore, it is important to equip yourself with some simple home and kitchen items that can act as remedies for a bee sting. Let us examine some of them.

Home Remedies

  • Application of ice is the simplest and most powerful remedy for a bee sting. It eases the pain, numbs the area and provides relief. Toothpaste also offers similar results when applied on the wound.

  • Another magic remedy for bee sting is plantain. People have been using plantain leaves since ancient times to treat bee stings. One must chew the plantain leaves and spit out the resulting saliva. This must then be applied on the wound. Plantain leaf is a great disinfectant. The wound can be cured in only 24 hours.

  • Baking soda is a great healing agent for bee stings. It should be mixed with vinegar, another powerful agent, to form a thick paste. Apply on the wound to get the desired results.

  • Rub some onion or papaya on the sting to reduce the pain and infection.

  • Honey, castor oil, lavender oil and aloe vera juices also act as natural remedies for stings.
Call a physician if symptoms increase and the victim continues to experience breathlessness and giddiness.
