Home Cures for Yeast InfectionsYeast infections develop in the vagina for various reasons. Most often, it is due to improper hygiene. If you have never had a yeast infection before, and are unsure of what it could feel like or lead to, talk to your gynecologist before attempting any home remedies. If you have had a yeast infection before and are confident that you do not have a more serious vaginal infection or illness, these home remedies may ease your discomfort until the infection goes away. SymptomsIf you find that your vaginal area, the vulva in particular, is itchy and irritable when you are not touching it, you may have a yeast infection. If your vagina hurts more than usual during sex, it is likely that you have an infection, presumably a yeast infection, in your vagina.TreatmentThere is no true "cure" for yeast infections as all women have the infection-causing fungus within their vagina to begin with. The problem arises when the body cannot maintain acid levels to fight excessive growth of the fungus. This is usually due to poor hygiene or poor health. Once your yeast infection is "cured", seriously reevaluate your eating and health habits to prevent another flare-up of the infection. To ease the pain of an existing yeast infection, there are two popular remedies. Try placing a tablespoon's worth of plain, non-flavored, yogurt into your vagina to subdue the infection. You could also dip a tampon in yogurt about twice a day and place it in your vagina. If you are short on time, place a dab of yogurt into your vagina before going to bed. If the yogurt is not helping the situation, soak in a hot bath that contains one to two cups of vinegar. Vinegar is very acidic and can help your body's natural acids fight the yeast fungus in your vagina. Also Read: |
