Constipation is a horrible condition. You constantly feel the need to go to the toilet but there is no relief. There is only constant discomfort.

- The main treatment for curing constipation involves improving your diet, ensuring that it is balanced and natural. A good diet is one that includes wholegrain cereals, honey, vegetables and a variety of fruits. Milk-based food products like butter and cream are also good additions. Avoid foods that have little or no fiber, like ice-cream and meat.
- Maintain good food habits. Chew your food thoroughly, refrain from hurrying through meals and eat regularly for the best results.
- If you are constipated, simply remedying your diet is not enough. You will need to treat the condition first, and improve your diet to ensure that it does happen again.
- One of the simplest remedies for constipation is to consume lots of water, drinks like orange juice and soups. Make a habit of drinking a glass of hot milk before going to sleep. Drinking a mixture of lemon juice and warm water up to thrice a day is also known to ease constipation.
Plenty of water and a balanced diet are usually all it takes to cure constipation. Consult your doctor if your condition persists even after two or three days. Prolonged constipation can damage your health and cause various afflictions.
