Earache Home RemedySometimes, even your doctor may not have a cure. But you could try an earache home remedy to alleviate the discomfort until the problem goes away. Here are a few remedies you may want to try. Home RemediesOils: Several oils provide relief when gently dropped into the ear. Olive oil is soothing, moisturizing and a great earache home remedy. Astringent and antibacterial oils like tea tree oil and garlic juice added to olive oil can also help. Regardless of which oil or oil blend you choose, use three drops in each ear every four to six hours as needed.Warm Compress: Moist heat is an excellent way to soothe an achy ear. You could try a warm, damp washcloth, but ensure that it remains warm and damp. Try a microwavable heat pack or make your own by filling a long sock or pantyhose with rice, tying a knot at the top and heating until warm but not hot. Lay your ear on this and the lasting moist heat will provide relief. You may have to reheat the pack between each ear. Try 30 minutes on each side. Hydrogen Peroxide: If your ear pain is due to a buildup of wax, clear it out with common hydrogen peroxide. Put a few drops into one ear, and lie on your side for 20 minutes so that the peroxide can work its magic. Turn over to the other side and repeat with the other ear. You may want to follow this up with a warm water flush using an ear syringe. Healthy Habits: Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, choose healthy foods and take a suitable multivitamin for your age (or your child's age, as the case may be). Treat yourself gently to boost healing and increase comfort. Vitamins, rest and healthy foods will boost your immune system. Also Read: |
