Ear Infection Home Remedy
Ear infections are very common in children and are sometimes seen in adults. The average ear infection or otitis media is caused by factors that include but are not limited to allergies and the common cold.
Symptoms include vertigo or a loss of balance and pain in the infected ear. Consult a medical professional for a diagnosis and treatment advice if you suspect an ear infection. Check with your physician before trying out any ear infection home remedy.
Home Remedies
- Strong immunity will ward off ear infections. Give your immune system a boost by taking plenty of Vitamin C. Zinc lozenges are beneficial if you have a cold.
- Consume nutrient-rich soups and healthy beverages like water and herbal tea at this time.
- Getting plenty of rest is crucial. Experts claim that the body heals itself 20 percent faster during sleep.
- Slightly-warmed olive oil is a popular home remedy for ear pain. Do not warm the oil in the microwave or on the stove. Instead, place the bottle of oil in a bowl of hot water so that it warms gradually. Then gently drop three drops in each ear with a clean dropper. Allow the oil to penetrate the ear before turning over and repeating with the other ear. You could also add garlic juice to the olive oil. Garlic juice is known for its antibacterial properties and is readily available in the supermarket. Use two or three drops of garlic juice in each ear.
- Your hairdryer could also help soothe your ear. Set it on low speed and low heat, and hold at least a foot from your ear. The gentle heated air will dry out moisture.
- You can also fill a tube sock with rice, tie it at the end and microwave until warm. Place each ear on the warm sock for 30 minutes. You may need to reheat the sock between ears.
Always remember that these remedies are not a replacement for professional medical advice.
