Bronchitis Home Remedy
Bronchitis occurs when the mucous membrane within the lungs swells up. The disease can be mild or chronic in nature. It is marked by the secretion of a large amount of mucus. This may be followed by fever, breathing troubles and cough. Other common symptoms include lack of appetite and chest pain.
Bronchitis may occur due to heredity or external factors like smoking, drug intake, working in a stuffy environment and weather changes.
Home Remedies
- Turmeric powder mixed in a glass of milk is an effective remedy for bronchitis. Turmeric has an antipyretic property that heals inflammation. It is best taken on an empty stomach twice or thrice daily.
- Ginger is another effective remedy for bronchitis. Prepare a mixture of ginger, pepper and clove. Take this with tea or honey. It boosts metabolism and reduces fever.
- Onions are said to be one of the most powerful healing agents for bronchitis. They have properties that help dilute phlegm as well as prevent further spread of the disease. One teaspoon of onion juice on an empty stomach is a very good cure for bronchitis. You can also take fresh spinach leaves mixed with water and a touch of honey.
- Almonds are a good remedy for bronchitis. Mix the powder of a few almonds with a cup of lemon juice. Take this once every night.
- Bronchitis patients can benefit from hot Epsom salt baths until the condition subsides. Prepare the bath by mixing five tablespoons of Epsom salt in a bucket of warm water.
- Apply hot and cold packs on the patent's upper chest. Do this using two towels and continue for an hour.
- One simple yet essential home remedy for bronchitis that is often ignored is exposure to fresh air. Bronchitis is cured through outdoor exercises including a daily morning walk, yoga and meditation.
