Bladder Infection Home Remedy
Bladder infections occur when bacteria infect the urinary tract. It is extremely painful and uncomfortable as the person has a constant urge to urinate and experiences a burning sensation during urination.
Sometimes, bladder infections lead to traces of blood in the urine. There could also be inflammation, and pain in the back and lower abdomen. Studies indicate that bladder infections are more common among women than men.
Although a visit to a doctor is advisable in severe cases and antibiotics provide temporary relief, some homemade remedies are very effective against bladder infection. Here are a few such simple yet powerful remedies.
Home Remedies
- The best home remedy is to drink a lot of fluid. Water is the best remedy and it is prescribed that you drink eight to 10 glasses of water daily. The more water you consume, the more you will urinate and flush out the infection-causing bacteria from the bladder.
- Drink a glass of cranberry juice. This fruit juice acidifies urine and prevents the growth of bacteria. Vitamin C also works like cranberry. A daily 1,000 mg dose of Vitamin C is effective in preventing bladder infections.
- If you have contracted a bladder infection, take a cup of echinacea after meals. Other herbal remedies include ginger root, parsley root, lovelia herb and juniper berries. You could take these cooked, in tea or as capsules to produce desired results.
- Regular consumption of yoghurt is very helpful. Yogurt contains acidophilus bifidus, which helps prevent bladder infections.
- Maintaining good hygiene and taking a shower everyday is essential for preventing bladder infections. It is also advisable to avoid tight jeans and trousers.
- Adding a few drops of apple cider vinegar to your bath water can also be beneficial. This remedy reduces the burning sensation and provides relief. Hot baths are also believed to provide relief.
