The Therapeutic Effects of Water on SkinAlthough moisturizers replenish our skin to some degree, they cannot replace the benefits of actually drinking a few pints of water everyday. With each passing year, our skin becomes increasingly dry. This is because sebum production slows down. As a result, cells begin to lose moisture, eventually becoming dry and wrinkled. Modern medicine suggests that ingesting sufficient water hydrates our cells, particularly our skin cells. But is that really the case? By drinking plenty of water on a daily basis, are we really hydrating our skin cells? Will the aging process slow down? Will drinking water reduce wrinkles? Will it prevent pimples? Water is essential as it purifies and increases blood flow, thereby eliminating toxins from the body. This occurs on two levels -- on a cellular level and on a systemic level. Toxins are transported through the kidneys and liver, thereby filtering the organs. Water is essential for this process. Water transports vitamins and minerals to the cells while carrying away the toxins. The first indication of low water levels is dry skin. Little lines can become deep crevices on the face. Bags and dark circles under the eyes indicate lack of water intake. To detect whether you are dehydrated, pinch the skin beneath your eyes. If the skin does not spring back into place, it means that your body is lacking moisture. The skin is moisturized only if you drink sufficient water. As some people age, blemishes become more apparent. Impurities and oil within skin cells accumulate. By drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water per day you can flush out oil and toxins that create pimples and other types of skin contamination. Also Read: |
