Oranges As a Great Food

The orange is an iconic fruit with several nutritional benefits. It offers several culinary advantages as well. Oranges can be used to prepare a variety of dishes, turned into fruit juice or simply eaten raw.

It has long been known that oranges are good for health. Among other things, oranges contain high levels of Vitamin C, which helps prevent disease and builds up the body's immune system. That is why people who have colds are advised to eat plenty of oranges; the fruit relieves symptoms and aids in the healing process.

The orange also contains fiber, which aids in the effective functioning of the digestive system. It is said that having sufficient fiber in the body could be key to reducing the incidence of high blood pressure.

However, there is some debate regarding how beneficial oranges really are. It is generally accepted that oranges are good for the human body but the extent and nature of their benefits are subject to some debate. Opinions abound. There is no dispute over the fruit's Vitamin C and fiber contents. At the same time, some other generic issues must be examined in greater detail.

Orange juice is easily available in the markets. However, many commercial versions of orange juice are not too safe because they contain too many additives. The additives improve the flavor of the drink but not nutrient levels. Some people even have bad reactions to orange extracts.
