Some slimming guides claim that mung beans are the ultimate slimming food because they fit in very well with popular food replacement programs. Mung beans are a low-fat addition to any diet. They also contain protein that promotes development of healthy body cells. Mung beans are also credited with the ability to lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar levels in diabetics and those with a propensity for the disease.

Despite their wonderful benefits, mung beans do not enjoy high demand. It may have to do with ignorance and skepticism about natural foods. Some people have given the industry a bad name. Hence, the public is reluctant to put their faith in these holistic treatments. Others stay away because are unaware of the benefits and cooking methods. At best, they may encounter the food in a posh restaurant and never think about it again.
