Benefits of BeetsThe beet is blood red in color and resembles an out-of-shape tennis ball. Beets are high in carbs and low in fat. They also contain sodium, iron, calcium, magnesium, fiber, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. They are said to be beneficial for pregnant women because they lower the risk of the baby having spina bifida and other defects. Beets can be made into beet juice or used in their powdered forms. Researchers in Hungary believe that beets in powdered from slow down the growth of tumors. However, this research is still in its early stages.
