Strengthening One's Inner Self for Better Health
Feeling good about yourself inside will radiate into feeling good about yourself on the outside. Having good inner strength can lead to much better health. It is well documented that negative emotions lead to unhealthy bodies. For example, people who suffer from depression are more likely to catch colds or other illnesses. Being healthy means having a strong mind, body and spirit and to be balanced within yourself. Knowledge is power, as they say. This is why it is important to have knowledge over yourself, so you have the power to control yourself.
Meditation
Meditation allows us to get in touch with our subconscious by no longer thinking of the mundane thoughts that occupy our daily minds, such as bills and shopping. Through meditation, we allow ourselves to listen to our inner voices and feel what it is our body, mind and soul require. Many emotional intelligence coaches and other practitioners tell people that meditation is a great way to start the day, as it allows you to feel strong and calm on the inside, reflecting in your overall demeanor and health.
A Holiday
The basis of strengthening your inner self is to be able to relax and unwind and to escape the stresses of life. A holiday is a great way to do that. However, you must make sure that going on holiday is not a rushed affair; it can be advisable to have a few days off work before you go on holiday. Similarly, when you return from holiday, ensure that you still have a few days to settle back into your home life before returning to all the stresses of daily life. Many people will mention that they need a holiday when they have just come back from holiday, and this is because they have not taken the appropriate time to relax and unwind.
Home Remedies
If you are particularly stressed and are having issues with strengthening your inner self, you may find that your health is also starting to suffer. As discussed earlier, having good inner strength increases our immune systems and we are less likely to suffer from certain medical issues. Some tried and tested home remedies that could help you alleviate the anxiety you are feeling and help you in your process of rebuilding your inner strength and hence your health are:
- Almonds -- you can make a drink before bedtime from almonds, milk and ginger, which will help you relax before bedtime
- Vegetables with potassium and folic acid, such as onions and celery. Having insufficient potassium and folic acid can cause nervousness
- The smell of oranges are said to combat the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
Hypnosis
It is also possible to visit a qualified hypnotherapist who will help you by placing subliminal, positive messages into your mind. Many people have found this a very beneficial way of alleviating stresses and negative thoughts from their life.
Once you choose a process to strengthen one's inner self for better health, it is important that you check to ensure the remedy is working. This is easily done by keeping a mood diary during a set period of time. Once the period is completed (it is generally advised to keep a mood diary for around a month), you will be able to tell whether or not your inner strength has increased, and with it your overall health.
