Are Whole Food Vitamins the Better Choice?Vitamin manufacturers use these words frequently to promote their product lines and increase profits. The same manufacturer may create three types of the same vitamin -- whole food, organic (or from natural sources) and synthetic. But is there really a difference? Or is the hoopla over whole food vitamins just another scam to convince you to part with your money? After all, they are unlikely to be cheaper. Despite the marketing gimmickry of big pharmaceutical companies, vitamins that come from food are different from organic vitamins. The so-called "natural" and "organic" vitamins being sold by pharmaceutical companies are not consumed through diet. Even the term "natural" has a different meaning here. In this case, "natural" vitamins are made from chemical ingredients mined from the ground. Meanwhile, the supplements in whole food vitamins are a complex food state that our body recognizes easily and uses immediately. These vitamin complexes contain flavonoids, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. Our body readily accepts and uses these as soon as it can. However, when it comes to natural or organic vitamins, our body carries out a breakdown process in order to use the vitamins effectively. Our body uses them, just not as effectively as it uses whole food vitamins. If you are buying whole food vitamins, ensure that the label specifies the whole food contained in the product; otherwise, it may not be a whole food vitamin at all. Also Read: |
