How Vitamin Water Can Provide Additional Supplementation

America is now recognizing the need to maintain optimum health and overall wellness. Americans are constantly looking to reach their physical, mental and emotional peaks. People are exercising more, eating better and practicing additional healthy lifestyle choices. Meanwhile, many companies are targeting people's drinking habits. Vitamin water is a case in point.

Vitamin water is a hot trend these days and several different brands are available in the markets. Vitamin water is being touted as a new way to supplement your diet with vitamins and hydrate your body simultaneously. The beverage is made of distilled water, fructose sweetener, a series of electrolytes, natural fruit flavors, and multiple vitamins including Vitamin C, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin E. Other ingredients may be added, depending on the specific purpose of the drink.

Recent research shows that vitamin water is very effective. The vitamins in vitamin water are absorbed faster by the body than vitamins contained in traditional food products. However, there is debate over whether the drink can be a substitute for vitamin supplements. Vitamin water contains anywhere from 100 to 125 calories per bottle, as well as 25 to 30 g of sugar. If one has an active lifestyle, these calories get burned very quickly. The beverage may not be the vitamin of choice for people who do not exercise regularly. Further, this drink is probably best consumed in conjunction with regular vitamin supplementation, rather than as the only vitamin supplement.
