Vitamin B17 As an Assistance to Cancer Treatment20 years ago, Vitamin B17 was back in the news. It became the center of a huge controversy when scientists claimed that components of the apricot seed compound made it virtually impossible to acquire cancer, and that in most cases, it could kill existing cancers. Pharmaceutical companies immediately initiated a series of FDA studies to determine the claim's validity. Scientific evidence did not support the claim and denied the compound's cancer-eradicating effects. Also known as laetrile and amygdalin, Vitamin B17 occurs naturally in apricot seeds. 35 years ago, apricot seeds were considered a cure for all cancers. There were claims that eating up to seven apricot seeds daily would keep cancer at bay. The concept was similar to that of eating an orange a day to prevent scurvy. Much anecdotal evidence supports the notion that Vitamin B17 helps in cancer remission. Unfortunately, lack of scientific evidence prevents it from receiving FDA approval. Moreover, pharmaceutical companies do not accept that the cure for cancer can be as inexpensive and readily available as fruit seeds. The majority of the medical community also rejects the notion. At the same time, there are many advocates of this theory. Many cancer patients show some tumor regression on using Vitamin B17. Using Vitamin B17 in cancer treatment has also resulted in significant prolonging of life. The vitamin is now used to treat cancer, but is most commonly prescribed in Mexico. Many Canadian and American patients travel to Mexico to receive this treatment. Laws are being formulated in Montana and Indiana to establish the legal prescription of Vitamin B17 in cancer treatment. Also Read:
