How to Treat Eczema With Skin Vitamins

Over six million Americans are affected by various skin conditions everyday. These skin problems may not be life threatening but are often painful, uncomfortable and embarrassing. Common embarrassing skin conditions include eczema and psoriasis. Prevention is not always possible but skin vitamins can control the symptoms and help you feel better.

These skin conditions often manifest through patchy, red inflammations on the skin, scalp, face, hands, wrists, back and other parts of the body. They are often extremely itchy and scratching usually worsens the condition.

If you have either of these diseases, taking skin vitamins -- whether in combination with each other or alongside prescription medication -- can help. The skin vitamins will provide symptomatic relief. You could see benefits within three or four days. The vitamins may also prevent the condition from recurring.

Here is a list of skin vitamins that could help:
  • Flaxseed Oil: Take one tablespoon or 14 g of flaxseed oil every morning. Do not mix with food.

  • Evening Primrose Oil: Take 1,000 mg thrice a day.

  • Vitamin A: Take 25,000 IU daily for 10 days when you have a flare-up. Reduce the dosage to 10,000 IU for maintenance. Do not take more than 5,000 daily during pregnancy.

  • Vitamin E: Take 400 IU daily. Do not take this if you are on anticoagulant medication.

  • Zinc and Copper: Take 30 mg of zinc and 2 mg of copper daily. Start with the zinc. Take this for one month before introducing the copper.

  • Grape Seed Extract: Take 100 mg daily. Take the standardized version that contains 92 to 95 percent proanthocyanidins.

  • Chamomile: Buy this in lotion form and apply on the affected areas as often as needed.

  • Licorice: Again, buy this in lotion form and apply on the affected areas as often as needed.
