Are Organic Vitamins Better for You?

If you go shopping for vitamin supplements, you will notice that there are largely two types of vitamins -- synthetic vitamins and organic vitamins. The synthetic variety is made in laboratories by chemically processing the vitamin molecules. Organic vitamins are created out of food substrates like carrot powder, buckwheat and wheat germ; their biochemical compounds are not tampered with.

What kind of vitamin should you choose? Most people are unsure. They often choose vitamins at random, assuming that all supplements are created equal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Take care while choosing vitamins, particularly the synthetic variety. Large doses of synthetic vitamins may cause various health issues, especially if you have kidney problems or diabetes.

The cells in our body require nutrients to live. Lack of adequate nourishment causes our body cells and tissues to get sick and collapse. Even people who follow healthy diets with a high intake of fruits and vegetables may not receive sufficient minerals and vitamins everyday. Synthetic vitamins can prove harmful because our body may not be able to absorb and use synthetic compounds as easily as it uses natural ones for tissue repair, immune system health, or maintaining cellular vitality. True organic vitamins work in concert with our body's natural sources and function more effectively throughout the body.

Synthetic Vitamins Could Be Harmful

Many producers of synthetic Vitamin C use ascorbic acid in its synthetic state to create the vitamin because it costs less and lasts longer. However, some clinical studies show that even small doses of the synthetic version can trigger rebound scurvy, kidney stones, collagen disease and defective metabolism. Another study found that large doses of synthetic zinc resulted in symptoms of zinc deficiency. In these cases, the vitamins do not improve immune system health; they harm it.

Organic vitamins are more natural and better absorbed by our body. It is preferable to supplement your diet with organic vitamins.
