Walking Boots
Shopping for walking boots can be a daunting task. It is hard to choose from among the different styles and brands in the market. Make a decision based on what is best for you feet and walking habits. Sometimes, cheaper walking boots are the best bet. At other times, you may need to look at costlier options.
When you decide to purchase walking boots, keep in mind the following:
- Try on boots while wearing walking socks. Ask the sales associate for walking socks that you can wear while trying on the walking boots. Walking socks are thicker and lessen the likelihood of blisters. Make sure the boots fit properly and comfortably over the socks.
- Ideally, look for good-quality walking boots in leather and fabric. Which material you choose will depend on the fit and your preference. Try on both types to find out which suits you best.
Regardless of whether you purchase fabric or leather boots, you will have to waterproof them. Use water-proofing spray for fabric walking boots and dubbing or beeswax for leather boots.
Try on a few pairs before deciding which one to buy. The boot should fit tightly around your foot. There should be no slippage inside. Break in the shoes by wearing them around the house with your walking socks on. Wear them outside only after they are sufficiently broken in to fit your feet and suit your walking style.
