Digital PedometerWhat is the best way to examine the accuracy of a given digital pedometer? Read studies on your instrument of choice. Studies show that the average digital pedometer provides measurements that are accurate to within 10 percent. When comparing some of the most popular brands of the digital pedometer, studies found that the Yamax brand was the most accurate. It measured steps with nearly 100 percent accuracy. Other brands that were nearly as accurate included Accusplit and Pacer. Eddie Bauer and L.L. Bean were the least accurate pedometers. The impact of walking surface did not affect individual digital pedometer readings significantly. Studies found that when walking speeds were too low, the digital pedometer missed steps and failed to provide an adequate record of one's activity. A digital pedometer works best when the user walks at a brisk pace of three to four miles per hour. All digital pedometers were found to be far more accurate than the older gear-driven pedometers. Other factors that should affect your digital pedometer purchase include price, size and peer reviews. Also Read: |
